Continuing on with experimenting with grids of circles.  I’ve cranked up the randomness, the alpha channel and the circle size on this one.  It works really well with some animation.  I might consider this technique to add some interest to the quantum mechanics demos to draw the eye to the density functions.   Related Images:

I’d been rather unmotivated with a number of projects that I’m working on, but going through my inspiration board on pinterest got me fired up again.  I’ve got a few more experiments on the way. Related Images:

Hard to believe there is a pattern to this one.

This one really really looks random, but it’s as well defined as any of the other more geometric images I’ve posted. Fractals don’t follow the same rules that we are used to. That’s what makes them interesting subjects. My latest burst of posting has died down as I’ve gotten busy and probably will be for…

    Generative Convergence #2 – Ghosts

This is a companion to the last image, the Dirac Delta Function is moved over to the right and some of the intensity parameters have been punched up a little.  These are really starting to resemble the transition energies from atomic orbitals.  I’m still on track to add another level of complexity before I start…

    Generative convergence #1 – Shadows

I wasn’t aiming for something this sparse, or this kind of vertical pattern, but it turned out like a more refined version of some of my other experiments.  This method is interpolating a function that resembles a Dirac delta function centered at 1/2, the other lines are reflections of that central spike. These are some more images I’ve created on my way to generating a realistic brush stroke.  Given how much I’m liking these, and some more experiments that I’m cooking up, I’m not sure if I’ll ever get to the brush strokes. Related Images:
